INTRODUCTION

1. Strategic Overview of CityTeam in the Neighborhood

2. The role and function of the F/U Captain. 
Function
  • The F/U Captain serves as the Host of the Pop-up events and is responsible for inviting the guests, welcoming, getting to know the guests, potentially praying for needs, and promoting Emotional and Spiritual Support programs.
  • Recruit and train other team members to help fulfill all the functions. 
Qualifications: 
  • A committed follower of Jesus with a good relationship with Jesus.
  • Commit to prayer and depend on the Holy Spirit to give you favor with those you serve.
  • You need to be outgoing, or able to turn it on when needed, to connect and relate with pop-up guests.
  • Has compassion for others and a desire to help others improve their lives.
  • CityTeam has a Pantry Partnership with Centro Cristiano Jerusalen and Pastor Blanca Ruiz will share how their Pop-up Closet program allowed them to go deeper with their pantry guests and successfully created onramps to their Vital Connections program there in Gilroy. 
3. Meet the key CityTeam personnel you will work with as a Follow-up Captain.
Raul Quinonez- Distribution Supervisor

Raul oversees the logistics of the items being distributed at Pop-up Closet events. Scheduling deliveries, requesting supplies and quantities, doing clothing drives, etc. are all things you will work with Raul.

Malia Pires - Director of Lasting Solutions

Malia oversees implementing the lasting solutions portion of CityTeam in the Neighborhood strategy that includes spiritual and emotional support programs like Vital Connections, and economic empowerment programs like Career Connections. Malia will provide direct oversight for all the non-Spanish-speaking follow-up captains and learning communities. 

Ricardo Pineda- Outreach Supervisor

Ricardo directly supports all the Spanish-speaking follow-up captains and learning communities to launch spiritual and emotional support programs like Vital Connections.4.    Introduction to the Training

4. Expectations - Flow & time commitment

The training will all be online and usually takes about 4 hours to complete. It is a combination of reading text that includes scriptures, answering questions by typing, and watching several videos. You can stop and continue at a later time if needed. 

We trust that you will find the training insightful and very practical and we currently have the training in English and Spanish.We look forward to partnering with you in sharing Christ’s love and hope with your Pop-up guests.Please select your preferred language to start the training.
