Sorting Clothing & Hygiene Items

Sort donated clothing and assemble hygiene kits for families and unhoused neighbors.

Location

CityTeam Warehouse, San Jose

About this opportunity

The CityTeam warehouse receives clothing donations for all ages and hygiene essentials for neighbors in need. Volunteers sort items by category and size so they can be shared with families through our neighborhood Pop-Up Closets and with unhoused neighbors through encampment outreach.

What volunteering looks like

  • Donation sorting: organize and sort incoming clothing and small household items.
  • Hygiene kit assembly: pack kits with essentials like toothbrushes, soap, socks, and combs.
  • Needs change daily, so you may be asked to help with a variety of tasks.

Why it matters

Sorted clothing lets Pop-Up Closet guests shop a curated selection organized by age and gender. Hygiene kits provide dignity to neighbors experiencing homelessness.

What to know before you come

  • Wear long pants and closed-toe shoes. Dress modestly and comfortably.
  • Please do not bring valuables. There is no secure place to leave belongings.
  • Children must be 8 or older to volunteer with a parent. Parent and child each need to register.
