Can you imagine wanting so badly to get over an all-controlling addiction that you want to go to jail? That’s how bad things were for Pete before he came to Cityteam.
“I was trying to stop, but I couldn’t,” he said.
He even went to the hospital several times to detox, but he was always sent away before he had gotten all the alcohol out of his system. Things were so bad he ended up homeless. That’s when he came to Cityteam for shelter.
When we saw how determined Pete was to get over his addiction, we enrolled him in our recovery program. There he not only got the tools he needed to walk in sobriety, but he learned about Jesus.
“It’s one thing to know about God, and another to KNOW Him,” Pete said.
Now Pete is sober, growing in his faith and giving back by volunteering.
“I see the sadness, the hopelessness and the hunger. This is where I need to be,” he said.
Thank God that Pete found Cityteam instead of going to jail. Now his life is completely different as he’s making it a point to give back to the community.
Pete is just one example of how your support changes lives.
