Rex thought his life was over when his wife of 10 years had an affair and kicked him out of his house. He had no idea how to survive on the streets of Chester. A recovering alcoholic, he spent his nights shivering and miserable in an abandoned building, battling the temptation to drink again.
One night, hungry and hopeless, Rex came to Cityteam to get something to eat. He sat down at a table and met Stan — another homeless man. As they shared a meal, Stan told Rex about the day he almost died.
“I got run over by a car and should have died,” Stan said.
Searching For Meaning
Stan believes God saved his life so that he could reach out to others. Stan doesn’t have much, but what he does have, he is glad to share. That night, as they ate together, Stan invited Rex to share his truck. That act of kindness blossomed into a strong friendship.
Both of these men, who were at times ready to give up, not only have hope, they have each other — and the support and prayers of people like you.
“We praise Jesus all the time,” said Rex.
“The best thing you can do is pray,” finished Stan.
If it hadn’t been for the meals friends like you provided, Rex and Stan may never have met.
You never know how God will use your gift to impact others!
