Ethan came from a violent home. He has the cigarette burns to prove it.
As a teenager wanting to feel accepted, he got mixed up with the gang life and meth.
He dropped out of school and ended up homeless. “I was digging out of garbage cans for two years,” he said.
His addiction landed him in mental hospitals. “I have scars from being handcuffed to the bed,” Ethan said.
When he told his gang he wanted out, they beat him so badly he was in the hospital for two months.
Desperate to help her son get his life back, Ethan’s mom told him about Cityteam. He agreed to come.
“I missed my old self,” he said.
Thanks to the support of friends like you, Ethan was able to begin unravelling the trauma of childhood abuse, the terror of gang life and the horrors of being homeless. Without the support of friends like you, where else would he have gone?
