James is a widower with four children. He tries to earn a living shoveling snow in the winter and doing yard work in the summer. But it’s barely enough to pay the rent.
“I’ve had days where I made sure my kids ate, and I didn’t,” he said.
When someone first told James about Cityteam, he walked there with all four kids for dinner. The long walk was especially hard for his daughter, who walks on artificial legs. What he saves on his grocery bill, he uses to keep the lights on or pay for transportation to his day job.
Last Christmas was tough. He didn’t have a turkey and the cupboards were bare. “We didn’t have anything to eat,” he said.
But now that James knows that friends like you will make sure that he and his kids don’t go hungry again, he feels like things are looking up.
“I still have hope and faith,” he said. “Cityteam helps me a lot.”
