Henry knows what it’s like to be hungry. That’s why he works so hard in his role at Cityteam’s kitchen.
“There were times I went two weeks without having anything to eat,” he remembers. “I was sleeping in doorways. I was starving.”
Henry isn’t starving anymore, because he heard about Cityteam and enrolled in one of our programs to help him get clean and sober and off the streets. Part of the program is giving back, which is why he works in our kitchen. But he’d do it even if it wasn’t part of getting back on his feet.
“I try to cook whole-heartedly,” he said. “I was out there. I’m really grateful to help people feel satisfied and safe. I’m just a little soldier for the Lord.”
