Join Cityteam’s When Help Meets Hope campaign to receive updates and opportunities to get involved and bring hope to those in need!
One in six people in the United States struggles with hunger, and Cityteam Chester is passionate about meeting this very real need in our community. Our food services program provides warm meals and groceries to individuals and families that are at the lowest poverty level, in a loving and grace filled way. We meet this need in a number of ways:
We have upgraded our normal dinner and started Hope Café, open to anyone for dinner every Saturday. Our vision is to treat our guests as if they were dining at a five-star restaurant, giving them healthy and delicious food choices and serving them with dignity at their tables. Guests may choose to stay for a worship service and hear the word of God after their meal.
Cityteam serves three meals a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year, never closing. Last year we served over 89,000 meals to families and individuals in need. Fresh Produce & Baked Goods
Fresh produce is a luxury many low-income families cannot afford, so we are grateful to be able to serve the community with fresh produce and baked goods. Cityteam volunteer-drivers travel the Greater Philadelphia Area six days a week picking up donated food from over ten grocery stores and countless restaurants and businesses. Our partners are an important part of our ministry in order to serve so many people in need.
Cityteam’s Pantry is a full-choice pantry, operating like a corner store. Our guests have the opportunity to shop once a month, selecting from their choice of canned goods, breads, and meats. They load a grocery basket and even have a check out area! Our volunteers are trained to pray with and minister to those guests who request additional help.
The holidays are an especially hard time for families struggling with poverty. Together with countless volunteers and donors we are able to provide special holiday food boxes for Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. Volunteers deliver these special holiday meals into the families’ homes. This gives us the opportunity to bless the families, pray with them, and see how else we can help in the name of the Lord.
As God grows the Food Service Ministry, we desire to give our volunteers a stellar experience in serving the most vulnerable and unreached people in God’s love and grace. To accomplish this, we meet together with our volunteer leaders for the purpose of discipleship, equipping and coaching them to feed the people physically and spiritually, and communicating our core values of safety, cleanliness, guest service, quality, and cost control.
