Allow
me to introduce myself. My name is Rashida Carter,
and I am the new Administrative Assistant for CityTeam
San Francisco. It has been such a blessing for me
to experience God’s great love for this city
on a daily basis! Tracy Stiffler, my predecessor,
was very sad to leave the family here at Cityteam.
But she says that she is extremely blessed by the
things she is learning about God’s character
through her new job at City Church San Francisco.
Tracy was so grateful for the opportunity to serve
God in this ministry. The love and labor that Tracy
poured into this ministry changed the lives of the
people she served. We miss you Tracy!
Another one of the CityTeam family that will be
sorely missed is Lani Buma. On April 24, 2004 Lani
married Don Bethe and became a part of a new family!
Lani was our Development Officer for over 2 years.
Her hard work and her love for the donors and volunteers
who served CityTeam made it possible for CityTeam
to grow and blossom as a ministry! As Lani begins
a new life of work and wedded bliss in Southern California,
we thank God daily for the fruits of her ministry
and we celebrate the difference she made in this mission!
At Cityteam San Francisco we have a lot to be thankful
for! In few days we will be emailing our very first
batch of daily prayer request lists! God has been
doing so much here at CityTeam and we are excited
to see and participate in all of the new things God
is doing in this ministry! Each of us here at CityTeam
knows that God hears and responds to the prayers
of his people and everything we do is dependent on
those very prayers!
There are many forms of outreach that CityTeam
uses to reach the lives and the hearts of the 6th
street community. Here is an updated list of the
current ministries that you have an opportunity to
pray for.
Homeless Ministries: Our Homeless Ministries allows
us to bring men and women into the presence of Christ
as we provide food, clothing, Bible studies, worship,
daily devotionals, mentoring relationships, personal
encouragement, footcare, medical care and prayer.
Last year, 3,924 different people walked through
our door for ministry!
Residential Recovery and Transformational Shelter
Programs: CityTeam currently has 23 men participating
in these connected ministries where they can experience
total life transformation as they turn their lives
over to Christ and become obedient disciples. Spiritual,
mental, physical and emotional healing becomes
possible bringing freedom from bondage, as these
men, through God’s help, deal with long-term
deep-rooted issues through the Twelve Step Program.
Computer Learning and
Career Enhancement Center is specifically designed for each individual’s
educational needs including literacy, math, memory,
GED certificates and also boosts their knowledge
of the latest computer technology. The Career Enhancement
Track includes career assessments, resume preparation,
personal financial training, and internships.
AVON Clinic: Last year God blessed CityTeam with
a grant from the Avon Foundation to set up a national
model to educate homeless and impoverished women
about breast cancer. We also screen to identify
those most at risk, and provide clinical exams
and appointment setup and transportation for mammograms.
Any ladies diagnosed with cancer will receive follow-up,
ongoing care. God is also using this time to touch
these women’s lives through a women’s
Bible study, clothing distribution and good old-fashioned
food and fellowship.
Hotel Ministry: San Francisco’s
6th St is lined with low cost hotels that are oftentimes
places rife with drugs, violence and spiritual
depression. God is using CityTeam volunteers who
offer groceries, listening ears and volunteer missionaries
who share weekly Bible studies currently in three
hotels.
You can have a great ministry and make a difference
in a homeless person’s life through serving
this summer. Keep checking our Home Page for the
latest opportunities.
