Philadelphia History

After much prayer and seeking of God’s will, CityTeam International opened the Chester, Pennsylvania location in 1989 with a one-day-a-week feeding program where we helped to provide hundreds of meals a year. Since that small beginning, we have renovated and expanded and currently provide 111,650 meals a year.

Our ministry has grown to include many services to the poor and disadvantaged such as a shelter for the homeless, a residential 12-30 month Drug & Alcohol Recovery Program, an Adult Clothes Closet, a nightly Feeding Program, a monthly Emergency Food Box Program, a Mother & Baby Program where the essentials of early childhood needs are met and Compass Academy our learning and career enhancement center.

CityTeam understands that simply meeting the felt needs of an individual is not enough. Living in the most prosperous nation in the world today does not automatically alleviate poverty. Although there are many poor living among us, poverty is not always for things or food or shelter. Many suffer from the poverty of lovelessness, from rejection, and lack of significance. The LORD addresses all of these needs in people’s lives, and CityTeam reaches out to all who come through our door in Jesus’ name, offering love and hope and acceptance. Whether you are a recipient of our services or a volunteer looking to make a difference, you are welcome to become a part of our family.
