Bob

"I never even knew CityTeam could help me. All I wanted was some food - I was hungry". Bob, now four months into recovery, sat across the room from me, sharing with me his gratefulness to God for the new direction in his life. "I am so glad that CityTeam offered me more than just a meal. You've given me a new chance at life!"

Bob, like many others who wander in off the streets, lonely and full of despair, has found that he can change. But change requires hard work, and a willingness to do what it takes to get well. We at CityTeam have discovered that most homeless people do not want to be homeless, are not lazy, and if given a chance will honestly try to change. We would appreciate it very much if you as a supporter of CityTeam would pray for our staff who teach and administrate the recovery program. We thank God for guys like Bob who are genuinely trying to change. But learning to deal with life without drugs is pretty stressful - and even scary. We are committed to helping people like Bob find a new and meaningful life.

Darnell
Darnell was thrown out of his brother's home on Christmas day. What a great present ! Darnell had been to CityTeam before. It was a place he could go to church and feel comfortable …accepted ...not looked down upon for his drug habit.

Hungry and alone, he found his way back to the familiar place on Washington Street, where he knew he could find a meal, shelter and some encouragement.

One of the mission staff took the time to talk to Darnell, allowing him the dignity to be able to tell his story and share his troubles with someone who cared. He was impressed by the genuineness of the people at the mission, and saw for himself how the people cared for people in crisis… people like him. Darnell applied and was accepted onto the recovery program, and has made great strides toward turning his life around. He has reconciled with his family, and is enjoying an old family tradition once again - producing gospel music with his brothers. Isn't God good!
