CityTeam International in Oakland serves thousands of hurting and homeless people each year, which requires a significant amount of supplies. Below are some suggestions for easy "recycled" donations and group projects. Equipment and Items Needed at CityTeam International - Oakland
Kitchen and Dining Room
- Canned and boxed food and staples (larger sizes preferred)
- Paper towels, napkins, sturdy paper plates, hot/cold beverage cups, toilet tissue
- Disposables: plastic silverware, food service gloves, dish washing gloves
- Heavy-duty can openers (we use lots of canned goods and the guys on kitchen duty are using the small hand held key-type openers)
- Coated aluminum wire shelving units for our walk-in cold food storage
- Commercial quality stock pots, frying pans, sauce pans, cookie sheets, steam table trays and utensils
- Warming table for the shelter kitchen
- New refrigerator for the recovery program kitchen/break room
- Large size cooking utensils and equipment
- Cutlery sets for servings meals to hundreds of diners
Shelter and Clinic
- Clean socks, bath towels, washcloths, twin bed sheets
- Hygiene items (travel size) – toothbrushes, toothpaste, bar soap, shampoo, conditioner, razor/shaving lotion, deodorant
General Maintenance
- Cleaning supplies: pine cleaner, bleach, laundry detergent, dish soap, sponges, cleaning cloths, vacuum cleaner bags
- 50 gal. heavy-duty garbage bags
- Paint and painting supplies
Furniture
- Dressers for the dormitory rooms
- Round tables and folding chairs for our dining room
Storage
- Heavy duty shelving for our pantry, to store staples, canned and boxed food
Misc
- Sturdy hangers to hang clothing on racks for our weekly clothing distribution
- Exercise equipment for the recovery center workout room
