Individual and/or Group Opportunities

Looking for a place to put your talents and/or skills to work? We are looking for men & women who have general and specialized talents to volunteer and help build an exciting and effective camp program. Whether you have a couple of hours or a week, we need your help in various roles such as activity development, clearing trails or painting.

If you are interested and have some time to give, contact the Program Manager at: campmaymac@usa.com / 831.335.3019 ext. 104

Maintenance:
We have painting, small repairs, and grounds-keeping to name a few. Call us for more information.

Program Development:

Assist the Program Manager in research and development of age appropriate activities and games. This could include but is not limited to the creation of the theme and special events for Junior and/or Junior High camps, the development of cabin initiatives, and spiritual programming for the Junior camp chapels. If there is any contact with campers then a background check and finger printing will be required.

Adopt an area:
You, your youth group, organization or church can adopt a program area. This could include site development, underwriting the cost and assist in the planning the activity. Contact Kevin Fischer at campmaymac@usa.com or 831.335.3019.

Some site development would be helpful. Building a retaining wall and expanding the site to handle 8 campers at the same time.

BMX Bike Track:
Our BMX Track is one of the most popular activities we have at camp. This would include bike repair , site development and maintenance and teaching the summer staff how to monitor and instructed the campers.

Nature Center:
Research, develop and plan an age appropriate nature program. This includes using the elements on the camp property and surrounding area. Trail development and maintenance, research property, lesson plan and teach the summer staff.

Fishing:
Inspect and clean the fishing equipment. Recommend new purchases and develop ways to teach the campers how to fish.

Creek Walk:
Research and develop a exciting program using the fish ladder and dam located on our property. This would include teaching the summer staff in the lesson plans and program.

Swimming:
Lifeguard instructor who can certify a two to four summer staff in lifeguarding. The pool is one of our major assets to camp. Secondarily, develop small and large group activities around the pool.

Trail Development:
With 178 acres of land we have a vast opportunity to explore the property. We would like to expand our trail system. This would include clearing, researching and producing signs and a self-led brochure.

Painting/Sanding:
We have several buildings and fences that need to be painted. Currently we need to paint 10 of our cabins and to repaint our Campfire stage area with a detailed theme around a western town. We also need to sand and stain the decks at campfire and the pool area.

New Area’s of Development:
(All of these areas require additional sources of funding before they can be implemented)

Animal Center:
Research and develop an exciting, hands on animal center. Securing and assisting in the care of the animals would be helpful. This class would be offered through our Nature Center.

Astronomy:
Research and develop an exciting astronomy class for 10-16 youth. This would include teaching the class and/or instruct the summer staff to implement the program. This class would be offered once or twice a week.

Mountain Bikes:

Zip Line, Climbing Wall and/or Challenge Course Development:
Research and develop an exciting challenge course targeted around 12-14 year old youth with the ability to be used by adults in the off-season. We are looking to develop a low ropes course and a self-led challenge course.
