How a Tent City Homeless Man Lost His Fear of Doctors...

A light rain was falling as George crawled out of his threadbare sleeping bag in Seattle's "tent city."

In the distance, through the gathering mist, he could see what he had been waiting for all day: The CityTeam Mobile Clinic was arriving and he needed their help.

In his past, George had experienced problems with our country's medical system and had stopped going to clinics and hospitals. He had decided to simply endure his medical condition and stay away from doctors and "the system."

But, lately he had started to have frightening symptoms. There was a tightness in his chest, sometimes accompanied by pain in his shoulders and arms. Also, George often felt lightheaded and faint.

No way around it, he needed medical help and he needed it now.

Cautiously, he approached CityTeam's Mobile Clinic and took his place in line with other homeless patients. Soon, he stood in the van's gleaming interior and found himself explaining his symptoms to Dr. Catlin Goss.

Dr. Goss listening intently as he gave George a thorough examination and determined that George's blood pressure was dangerously high. He recommended blood pressure medicine and arranged for George to be transported to a free clinic.

Today, George has returned to health and his fear of doctors is gone. Thanks to you and your generous gifts, Dr. Goss and CityTeam's Mobile Clinic may have saved another precious life.
