CityTeam Home > Life Stories > Darnell

Darnell was thrown out of his brother's home on Christmas day. What a great present ! Darnell had been to CityTeam before. It was a place he could go to church and feel comfortable …accepted ...not looked down upon for his drug habit.

Hungry and alone, he found his way back to the familiar place on Washington Street, where he knew he could find a meal, shelter and some encouragement.

One of the mission staff took the time to talk to Darnell, allowing him the dignity to be able to tell his story and share his troubles with someone who cared. He was impressed by the genuineness of the people at the mission, and saw for himself how the people cared for people in crisis… people like him. Darnell applied and was accepted onto the recovery program, and has made great strides toward turning his life around. He has reconciled with his family, and is enjoying an old family tradition once again - producing gospel music with his brothers. Isn't God good!
