The goal of CityTeam's Recovery Program is to help addicted individuals reach a turning point and commit to allowing God to have control their lives.

He found Hope at CityTeam

Tom grew up with little supervision as his Mom and Dad were very involved with work and never really had time for him. At a very early age he began to drink and hang around with older kids who had a negative influence on him. Tom continued to get into trouble and as his offences became more serious he was prescribed tranquilizers as a means of controlling his behavior.

He spent time in Juvenile Hall, military school and group homes, but nothing seemed to curb his behavior, he was attracted to trouble. After all, negative attention was better then no attention at all.

After high school, he was able to secure a job at an auto shop, where he began to excel as he was mechanically gifted. This progress was short lived as Tom became involved with drugs and soon the drugs were taking over and he was spiraling out of control. . The drug use continued for 8 years. He was not able to keep a job and was getting desperate, Tom was living out of his car and bouncing in and out of jail. He just wanted it all to end. A friend mentioned CityTeam to Tom and he stopped by to check it out.

Shortly after he found himself in front of a judge because a warrant for his arrest and begged the judge to send him to CityTeam for help and the judge agreed.

In CityTeam’s Discipleship and Recovery Program Tom learned about the power of God and began to pull his life back into order. As Tom embraced the steps of the program and as he went through counseling he began to regain hope. He actually enjoyed helping others and serving meals to the homeless as part of his recovery.

Tom has now graduated from the Recovery Program, is holding a job and working on reconnecting with his family. Because of friends and supporters like you we are able to help Tom and others like him, thank you for your faithful support.
