The goal of CityTeam is to help addicted people reach a turning point and commit to allowing God to control their lives.

A CityTeam volunteer who offered him a blanket

Like the step-father he adored, Roger* wanted a career in the Navy. But two weeks after boot camp, his dad died suddenly of a heart attack. Devastated, Roger turned to drugs and alcohol for escape. This tragedy set the stage for two decades of struggle. After the Navy, Roger tried to pull his life together and make it as a civilian. But his alcohol and drug use, a failed marriage and inability to hold a job eventually cost him everything. Now on the street, alone and confused, Roger ate from garbage cans or scrounged leftovers from park tables. With no one to help him, he just couldn’t seem to get back on track.

However one night, while sleeping in the park, Roger met a CityTeam volunteer who offered him a blanket. Later, he came to see us for a meal. We told him about how God could help him turn his life around. Because friends like you care, Roger found help at CityTeam. Through many hours of counseling, mentoring and life-skills education, Roger has been able to redirect himself. Today, Roger has graduated from our program and is delivering food boxes to families in need. He is sharing the hope that he received at CityTeam.
