Irene's Story of Healing
Irene is one of the ladies from San Jose, CA who allowed a Discovery Bible Study in her home with her family members. One was her son, John, who is 16 years old and was diagnosed with a possible fatal brain tumor. Two hundred prayer partners from the different Discovery Bible Studies began to pray in faith for John's healing. Amazingly, when John went back to the hospital, the doctors could find no tumor. John is doing well physically and has a strong faith in the Lord!
Eva's Miracle
Especially in the South Bay of San Jose, CA, God seems to be doing miracles along with the hundreds of Discovery Bible Studies. Eva is one of the mothers hosting a DBS. Her son, Jose, was in a motorcycle accident and in a coma for a week. He was paralyzed from the waist down. The doctors were literally in the process of finalizing their plans to amputate his legs. But friends and family members, who attended the DBS's in the area, prayed and anointed Jose with oil. On the Friday after this intensive prayer, Eva heard her son screaming from his bedroom "Mom, come, you need to see this!" Jose was moving both of his legs, especially the one that was to be amputated. It has been a delightful experience to see Jose and his family praising God for this tremendous miracle!
Opening Doors for Disciple-Making
For many years, CityTeam had a youth center in East Palo Alto, CA. This center was surrounded by high crime. Eventually, due to lack of staff and funds, the building was rented out. Now, several years later, God laid it upon the hearts of the staff and volunteers to pray about a discipleship movement of Discovery Bible Studies becoming Fellowships of Believers. So they began to do prayer walks and drives for several weeks in the area. God miraculously opened the doors of several homes to begin Discovery Bible Studies. These have multiplied to starting DBS's in Palo Alto and Redwood City.
A Testimony of Faithfulness Speaks to Many
In East Palo Alto, CA, Rosa hosted a Discovery Bible Study in her home. Not long after the DBS started, Rosa's daughter, Maria, was hospitalized at Lucille Packard Children's Hospital for kidney failure and she went into a coma. After much believing prayer, Maria came out of her coma and her kidneys started working. They removed the tubes from her body and she was able to go home. When Maria went back to the hospital for a checkup, the doctors spent three hours trying to understand what had happened. Rosa just told them that God healed her. The doctor said, "I know that, but we still need to run some tests to certify that she is well." Praise God for another miracle and through this witness, many more are involved in Discovery Bible Studies leading to Fellowships of Believers.
