The History of Camp MayMac
Camp MayMac was started in the 1930's by May and Mac McLean, who dedicated their lives to helping at-risk youth. Through their tireless efforts, hundreds of young people found new hope in God and strength to face difficulties with determination and courage. In the 1960's Auntie May and Uncle Mac (as they were affectionately called) turned their thriving ministry over to the San Jose Rescue Mission, now CityTeam International. It is in their honor the facility today is known as CityTeam International's Camp MayMac.
Each year CityTeam International's Camp MayMac serves disadvantaged, at-risk youth and their families from around the greater San Jose/San Francisco Bay Area. These campers receive hope and experience real life change through the beauty of God's creation, the fun of recreation, the unconditional love of camp staff, and the light of God's truth. During the rest of the year, the facility is rented to groups and churches that have a similar purpose.
City Team International is a non-profit Christian organization with locations around the world. CityTeam International provides life-saving food and shelter, recovery programs and other essential care 365 days a year for people that are in desperate need to find ways to survive and make healthy life changes while they find real hope in GOD.
