Where you are: Home / About / Programs

Cityteam International offers a variety of programs in North America to meet the physical needs of men, women and children. Programs vary form one city to another because of the needs of that community where Cityteam is located. Learn more about our specific programs in each city by selecting a city from the “Where We Work” menu above. You can also read about our specific outreaches in different countries around the world by selecting a specific region from “Where We Work”.

Here is overall view of our programs that we provide:

rescue mission

Home Cooked Meals

Each of our locations provides home cooked nourishing meals for men, women and children. For some, this might be their only meal of the day. Everyone is welcomed at our dinner table. Did you know that 1 in 6 people in the United States suffer from hunger? These are often working adults, children and seniors who simply can’t make ends meet and are forced to go without food. A majority of the people around our dinner table are homeless, living in low-income apartments/motels or their cars. Volunteers help us each day welcome our dinner guests as they arrive and make them feel safe. We rely on volunteers and donations to help us provide hundreds of home cooked meals each day.

Men's recovery programs

Shelter

Each of the Cityteam locations in North America provides shelter for men that are homeless and have nowhere else to turn to. These men are offered a hot home cooked meal, shower, toiletries, clean clothes and a safe bed to sleep in.  Some are suffering from addiction and need to see there is hope that transformation is possible. Case management, AA meetings, and small group studies are provided to help men take their next step towards recovery.  A hot meal is often the first step to helping a homeless person get off the streets and make real changes happen in their lives.

Men's recovery programs

Men's Recovery Programs

All of our North America locations provide a Men’s Recovery Program.  Addiction to drugs and alcohol are serious problems among the poor and homeless. Our structured program provides shelter, meals, clothing, counseling, recovery classes (AA, anger management, relapse prevention, etc), education (math, reading, and computer skills), GED preparation and career counseling. Our recovery program goes deep into their lives to bring lasting solutions that help transform their lives, their families and their communities.

Women's Programs

Women's Programs

Cityteam in San Jose, CA offers two women’s residential programs: House of Grace and Heritage Home. House of Grace is a structured long-term recovery program where addicted, abused or homeless women can rebuild their lives, without being separated from their young children. Heritage Home is a safe haven for pregnant homeless women. Both programs provide classes in recovery, AA, relapse prevention, parenting, counseling, education, GED preparation, career counseling, money management, etc.

Both programs are a community-based model, stressing personal responsibility, shared goals and support, mentoring, and empowering. These two vital programs are a place where women are taught how to join the mainstream of community life so that they can become productive citizens and mothers, supporting themselves, their children and their community.

Learning Centers

Men and women in our recovery programs as well as community members benefit from our Learning Centers. Students learn at their own pace, mastering skills in writing, math, reading comprehension, computer literacy, ESL and basic life skills components. As academic goals are attained, students work toward obtaining employment through our career coaching. Courses are designed to help students become responsible and equipped for independent living.

Medical and Dental Programs

Caring volunteers partner with Cityteam to provide medical and dental services to our homeless clients, individuals in our residential programs, and low-income families. Each Cityteam location is different in what they provide but these medical services are vital to the community to provide healing and hope to those in need.

Church Planting

Training

Cityteam provides a series of seminars based on training, equipping, coaching and mentoring disciples around the world. These seminars will provide the basic Biblical principles to see how others can start to disciple unreached men and women and mentor them to disciple others. As part of the course, students will review Cityteam’s books published with Thomas Nelson on the topic of Disciple Making Movements.
